Also known as: Golden Clam, Asian Gold Clam, Golden Corbicula
The Freshwater Gold Clam is a peaceful, filter-feeding invertebrate prized for its golden-yellow shell and natural water-cleansing ability. These clams help maintain water quality by filtering out small particles, detritus, and algae from the water column. They are a unique and functional addition to peaceful freshwater aquariums.
While they are low-maintenance, they do require stable, mature aquariums with good oxygenation and enough microscopic food (like phytoplankton or suspended organics) to survive. Because they bury themselves in substrate, they prefer fine sand or smooth gravel and should not be placed in bare-bottom tanks.
